It's an excellent book, however--the author, Carson McCullers, was only 23 when it was published. She displayed an intense understanding of human nature for one so young. An excellent movie was also made from the book.

I agree with you, Setanta, and I found it wonderfully-crafted, and so sad. I've not watched the movie, though. I didn't like the name because I found it contrived, and the poem from which the name was taken hackneyed, but a thorn by any other name would pierce the skin.
