Today, I was just about to delete, and block, my latest bit of porn spam - when something made me look more closely.
It was advertising child pornography!
I forwarded it to my local police - but, I am wondering - is this common? I have never received such a thing. I am wondering if it is common, untraceable stuff - or if the purveyors of this horrible stuff might have made a real mistake?
I'd never thought that this could happen, and, yes, I blieve, someone made a mistake.
And from own experiences, I can't tell you anything, since I never look at my spam.
Horrible,
good that you have forwarded it to the police.
well, it is not common yet ; but maybe soon.
So a few weeks ago, there was racim chain mail.
All is possible in the mass medium word wide web.
We need an effective cyberpolice.
btw, I have till now none spam reviced. That´s very good......

Gosh, I hope so!
It said it was sent to me because "you sent your address to our maillist or you are was our member."
Which I most certainly didn't, and wasn't!!!!!
It seemed risky for random spamming!
But I never checked to see if it was what it said it was.
Yecccccchhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Thanks Thok - yes, I only really started receiving spam recently.

I suppose, your local police (or whomever you sent the email) will certainly do such.
Hope so!!!!!
Wouldna hold my breath.
I occasionally get different degrees of porn (spam), but never child pornography. Let's hope that your local police direct this info to the proper authorities and catch whoever is responsible.
There are many websites that give you info on how to handle this kind if situation, this is only one of them and is only supported by U.S.

I got some weird spam (not porn) apparently from myself to myself, so I contacted my server, and they described this business of using Your address as a ploy - I mention this only to suggest you contact your server about it as well. I suppose you might also notify one of those spam chasing folks I have seen articles about... unfortunately I don't have a link for that.
Edit to say I had missed colorbook's link, a good one.
Thanks guys.
Seems it is not common - which I hope, as I said, means this lot made a mistake.
The way this world usually turns, dlowan, you are now under investigation. Maybe not, but their minds can work that way.
I wasn't going to mention that - but I am afraid Roger might be right. I only hope that in Australia people that deal with such cases are much better informed then in Croatia. Here, you would be in custody already
I already thought of that - which is mildly scary, since I work with children.
But - I am hoping that my innocence of anything untoward will show - and I wasn't gonna pass up a possible chance to help get some of these folk.
I still am half thinking it was a pretty general spamming.
My slight nervousness was increased cos my state is in the midst of a huge stir, and investigation, of those involved in caring for kids in the past - mainly the church as it happens - but still!
no, you did right thing for sure. And even if some idiot comes to idea to investigate you, you still have nothing to worry, cause your computer is clean.
Wow! Deb. That would freak me out! I've had several invites from women, but I think it's because our phone is in my husband's name. You did the right thing, Aussie. Hey, we'll be your character witnesses.
Lol! If I disappear, you'll know they took my computer to milk it, and I am in a windowless room, being beaten with telephone directories, and having sharp pencils dug into my hands!
Mind you, the problem with me would be to STOP me talking!

Hmmm - apart from it being mildly nerve racking - cos I KNOW what police can be like - I would be happier if I AM investigated, rather than nothing happening.
