MAASTRICHT, Netherlands (Reuters) - "A little less conversation, a little more action please" is what the Dutch want from their six months at the helm of the European Union.

To get the point across, EU social affairs and employment ministers gathered for an informal meeting in Maastricht were to hear Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation" at the start of their meeting on Friday.

The song also asks for "a little more bite and a little less bark, a little less fight and a little more spark".

The Netherlands assumed the rotating EU presidency from Ireland on June 30.

"We hope to see trends emerging," Dutch social affairs ministry spokeswoman Petra Klap said.

Envoking Elvis is an unusual, and perhaps a hammy, way of setting out one's agenda, but I'm glad that the Dutch will be 'in power.' If only the presidency were real power, 'though.

Thanks Smile But just as we Dutchmen got the EU presidency, for the first time since September 2001 we also have a 'Code Orange'. The Dutch Secret Service believes the Netherlands could be the place for a terrorist attack by radical Muslims, and has taken some steps to tighten security. The reasons for this are believed to be the following: 1) The Netherlands is the new chairman of the EU (there you have it); 2) There are Dutch troops in Muslim countries like Iraq; 3) The Netherlands is believed to be one of the closest EU allies of the USA; 4) It is believed there is already a vibrant terrorist network in the Netherlands, containing about 150 radical Muslims.

But eventually, we'll have to see what happens.

The Netherlands is a bit of a danger zone, in some ways; think of all those immigrants from Suriname and the Middle East, who don't bother to initiate themselves into the Dutch way of life, and so don't really care about the people who have given sanctuary to them (making them able to be terrorists; if we all here cared about the Netherlands, you see, we would not bomb it.)

Well, I am hoping for change and peace; but what can bring them to us?
