Workers in the US have been demanding Sundays off after learning of a legislative mistake that resurrected a "day-of-rest" law for all employees.

Soon after hearing about the new benefit, hotel workers, supermarket staff, and restaurant workers, were among those handing in requests. "They found the Lord very quickly," one manager said.

The "day-of-rest" law was brought to life when Virginia lawmakers mistakenly deleted exemptions that let most of the state's private businesses assign people to work on their Sabbath. Now businesses are demanding that the mistake is rectified.
