I'm talking too loud

Some of us often speak too loudly in everyday conversation so I am wondering whether there's a device one could carry--in say the breast pocket--that issues a warning beep of some sort

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=amazon+battery+loud-voice+warning

You will see I haven't had much luck Googling so if there is such a device I wonder what it's called

Thanks all

Quit shouting. We're not deaf, you know.

Well, some of us aren't

@dalehileman,
Dale, how do people generally find out they're speaking too loudly without a pocket device?

@dalehileman,
Wouldn't the simple solution be ... not to use any technology... and ask the person whether you're speaking too loudly?

People are more than happy to let you know...especially as they're running for the hills.

If I was aware of it I wouldn't need to ask

@dalehileman,
Is it a recent problem or were you always a loud talker?

@dalehileman,
I remember reading that this can be related to one having a hearing problem. I don't know how true that is, much less if you have a hearing problem yourself.
Since I do, and don't have hearing aids, I sometimes ask people if I talk too loud, and they tell me no, I don't, but I bet that I do talk too loud on the phone sometimes.

Anyway, you might check with an audiologist, if you haven't already.

Well...that'll warn off small demons. What else were you expecting of it?

A warning beep is a great idea.

I always keep a beeper in my pocket.

Whenever I get the urge to say something I hit the beeper repeatedly until the urge to speak passes or people can safely evacuate the general vicinity.

You could borrow one of mine.

@nacredambition,
Nac you've made my day

But on the other hand if you're being perfectly serious, your device wouldn't do me much good since the realization follows the act

Yes, Dale, I'm sure. For all practical purposes, there's no such thing as an electronic device that tells you that you're talking too loud. Most people who are loud talkers learn how to read expressions and body language and then adjust their voices accordingly.

There are microphones and recording devices that measure sound pressure levels...measuring in decibels. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/161753047289?lpid=82&chn=ps

However, such recording devices (using a mic) are not useful/practical for your application...nor could they be used the way you're querying. They're used to help acoustically enhance studio or listening rooms.
