I need to develop a web application for my college project, but i am in dilemma that on which particular platform i should work upon, some say it is Coldfusion but some say dreamweaver. Please tell me which one is better web application development platform?

There's no way to determine that with no info supplied as we don't know a thing about your project. Why not try out both? You, your classmates and professor would be the best determiner of that - not strangers unfamiliar with your project on the Internet.
