A chiropodist has been busted for allegedly billing America's health care service Medicare for patients with no feet -- and, for that matter, no pulse.

Authorities in Augusta said Dr Russell Ellicott filed £250,000 in claims for patients he could not possibly have treated: amputees and dead people.

A Medicare spokesman said: "We were amazed when we made our inquiries into the claims."
