A woman starved her pet dog - so it would fit inside her hand luggage on planes.
The mongrel, named Leonie, was seized after authorities in Nuremberg put the pooch on scales and found it to be just 26 pounds, half its normal weight.
The owner, identified only as Gerda, said she wanted Leonie small enough to carry on flights, but insisted: "I always looked after him well."
