IQ tests are supposed to grade on the curve with 100 as the mean.

Generally they each take various measures to mitigate aganst inordinately high scores (but do next to nothing to accurately measure low scores.

100 is the mean with 90 to 110 as normal. Anthing below 90 is considered slow with below 70 retarded I believe.

145 is genius afaik.

Mine, surprisingly, is 34. I never expected to attain such a high number.

But they assured me the results were accurate.

Yeah, I'm going over there now. No apologies necessary. I had visions of some strange chemical imbalance in retards that made them violent when the word "cavfancier" was mentioned, and thought that I might be able to make the whole lot of them my unholy army of the night. You have inspired me gus.

onerymom- Welcome to A2K! Very Happy

The first thing that I would want to know is how the test was given. On the internet? By a licensed psychologist?

Many paper and pencil tests are only rough estimates. A test which is given, one on one, by a licensed professional, is more likely to elicit substantive information.

At best, IQ tests measure only a limited part of a person's intelligence. It does not measure creativity, ability to relate well with other people (often called, "emotional intelligence"), and what is commonly known as "street smarts". Basically, the IQ tests measure the kinds of abilities that people need to absorb knowledge, particularly in a school setting.

There are many factors that would color how well a person does on a test. Was he rested? Did he have a headache or a cold that might interfere with his thinking processes? Do tests make him nervous? All these factors might yield a lower score than if all conditions were positive.

I followed your link Phoenix, and found an apparently serious test, with time scoring. I got through it in well under the time and clicked "check for results." Then I was given the offer to pay for the assessment. I guess my IQ isn't that high after all. Laughing

I think I've seen that one. It looks very similar to the e-mode IQ test.

Well, I took both tests, and the first one, which I refused to pay for, at least gave me a free score, which was 132. The free test that Phoenix posted, I got 147. Go figure.

The last time I checked, the test did not give scores above 144. <raises eyebrow>

That's the same one I posted the answers to, it IS the emode test (tickle is one of their domains).
