Send yourself back to the time of Nefertiti and King Tutankhamun. In your tomb, you are surrounded with the treasures you wish to bring with you into the afterlife. Name the seven songs (or CD's) you would bring.
Hmm, tough one. I'm assuming we are not limited to music only availible at the time you speak of.
Point taken, Cav..." Hieroglyphics", by the Bee Gees was popular then, and according to my daughters, this period around 1349 BC IS my era. However.......I digress.....what seven CD's or tunes would you bring with you?
my list (this week) would be:
To Turn you On - Roxy Music
The Four Seasons - Vivaldi (makes me teary, shamelessly)
Just Like Always - Joe Cocker
Gold In Them Hills - Ron Sexsmith
Hey Joe - Jimi Hendrix
(Get Up I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine - James Brown
The Look of Love - Dusty Springfield
ohhh heck, all of the above tunes make me teary, shamelessly...
Yowza! That is a tough one! For one thing, I generally make my own CDs, and don't know the names of many albums.
Ummm... today's choices, subject to change:
We are the Champions, + greatest hits of Queen
Greatest Hits of Creedence Clearwater Revival
Audioslave
Three Dog Night
Southside Johnny + the Asbury Jukes hits
Christina Aguilera
Guns + Roses, Welcome to the Jungle
Hmm...
I'm more a fan of albums, so here it is, for now:
Quadrophenia - The Who
The Wall - Pink Floyd
Another Green World - Brian Eno
Kind Of Blue - Miles Davis
Birds of Fire - The Mahavishnu Orchestra
Permission To Land - The Darkness
The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails
As for number 8, if there were one, I would pick 'Ordo Virtutum' by the Abess Hildegard Von Bingen.
Great topic!
Kind Of Blue-Miles Davis
Aja-Steely Dan
Encuentros-Eduardo Falu
Brandenburgh Concertos
Christopher Parkening -Plays Bach
Shake The Tree-Peter Gabriel
A Clockwork Orange Soundtrack
I think we need a list of at least 10, because I just thought of Frank's Wild Years by Tom Waits.
In your case Cav a list of one hundred wouldn't suffice.
True enough panzade....I'm too much the music fan.
Amen brother. You're one of the reasons I keep hanging around the "Songs That Tell A Story" thread
Great topic jm...makes me use my brain.
Let's see...the seven I would choose...
'Heart of the Matter' by Don Henley
'Unchained Melody' by the Rightous Bros
'Play That Funky Music White Boy' by Wild Cherry
'Drops of Jupiter' by Train
'Nights In White Satin' by the Moody Blues
'Best Dressed Man' by ZZ Top
'Joy To The World' by Three Dog Night
OK--I thought this would be a "Songs if stranded on a desert island"(BTW: We have a program on our local NPR station that uses that theme"
BUT most of songs would be stuff that reminded me of my life on earth. I'm also gonna have songs and albums on this list--hey it's my tomb, my rules.
Simply The Best--Tina Turner
"Dralion" soundtrack
My Immortal--Evanesence
"Shine--Complete classics"
Higher--Creed
The YSU Marching Pride(My Alma Mater)
Iris--Goo Goo Dolls
Quote:BUT most of songs would be stuff that reminded me of my life on earth.
that's exactly what my list was all about, Neo - good stuff! Every song on my list above, reminds me of someone significant in my life.
Heh awesome!
Radiohead-Pablo Honey
Radiohead-The Bends
Radiohead-OK Computer
Radiohead-Kid A
Radiohead-Amnesiac
Radiohead-I Might Be Wrong
Radiohead-Hail To The Thief
(I'm a big fan)
If I had seven songs to bring they'd be:
Freddie Freeloader by Miles Davis
Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder
How to Disappear Completely by Radiohead
The Gunner's Dream by Pink Floyd
Awaken by Yes
Grace by Jeff Buckley
Esther by Phish
Seven albums:
Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
Pink Floyd - The Final Cut
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Radiohead - Kid A
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Sigur Ros - Ágætis Byrjun

Good call, cav!! That album is a masterpiece.
I would not take cd's as they wouldn't have cd players, but instead, I would take my acoustic guitar and sing seven of my own songs.
I'm really enjoying your choices on this thread!!! Reminds me of music I ALSO love, and introduces me to music I need to hear - THANKS!
and stand up - I admire your talent - I would do that too, if I could!
jas
