1920's Design Question

I own a beautiful historic (built in 1926) home in Detroit and am considering decorating my entryway with Venetian Plaster. I want it to stand out, but don't want to do something that is inappropriate for the era. Much of my home is decorated with touches of Art Deco and Neo Classical antiques. To my knowledge, nobody else has done this in their homes. Looking for feed back from people who know about decor from the 1920-30s.
