What are the differences between the following sentences?

1) He reads.

2) He does read.

Why in second example, "does" is placed before "read"? Is second example is right?

The second is affirmative.

"Does he read," is interrogative.

"He read does," is not grammatical.

He does read.

Grammatically, it's OK. Here's an idiomatic application:

'Joe's not a very good boyfriend. He never takes her anywhere.'
"Well, he does do the dishes."
