Did I miss this somewhere?

Hi,
I am not sure if this is phrase of a full sentence but could someone help me understand what this mean, please?

The conversation was like someone is looking for something. Then I showed him was he was looking for and his reply was;

Did I miss this somewhere?

I am not sure if it was a straight forward sentence. That he was asking if he miss it somewhere or it means something else?

English is my second language.
Thank you.

It's an idiom to mean that the missing item was indeed, right in front of him. It was so obvious that he wonders how on earth he could have missed it.

Usually, it's said: "Did I miss this somehow?" or "Did I somehow miss this?"
