Punctuate "valentines"

When my Better Half asked where the punctuation goes I replied (in some consternation ) that it would depend upon exactly what's meant; for instance whether plural or singular

Finally in desperation I responded that I prefer no punctuation, thereby offering choice (Still not sure about caps)

So what's your opinion

@dalehileman,
If you are referring to the honoree of the holiday, St. Valentine, make it possessive with an apostrophe. If you are talking about a number of cards received on the holiday, don't use an apostrophe.

Example:

Dale received numerous valentines from his family on Valentine's day.

@Butrflynet,
Valentine also refers to the person you love as in he is my valentine. Do I guess in theory if you had many people you loved you could say Valentines' Day rather than Valentine's Day.

@Linkat,
Nah, that'd be wrong. 'Cuz when you're referring to the day, you're talking about the day in honor of St, Valentine (singular), not all yer sweeties and valentines (plural).

@Lustig Andrei,
How about I broke my Valentines' hearts. Then it would work.

@Linkat,
Sure. Now you're talking about more than one.
