Hello. I have to translate an article about groceries and eateries. Is there a word in English that combines both, meaning a place where food is sold regardless of whether the place is a restaurant or a supermarket? Thanks very much.

@Doubtful,
A deli does offer some groceries as well as some prepared foods, but it is neither a restaurant nor a supermarket.

I don't think there's one word to describe such a place.

A Supermarket Cafe/Cafeteria/Restaurant.

@Doubtful,
I don't think you all understood the question. Note that I wrote "whether the place is a restaurant OR a supermarket," not AND.

Anyway, I found the answer: food retailer. Food retailers include both food services and groceries.

Thank you all for trying to help, though.

You have to be more careful in writing your question. You wrote:

Should have been: Is there an English word to describe the type of business for both restaurants and supermarkets?
