Brown going grey-should I go lighter?

I have naturally medium-light brown hair, but it's now coming in over 50% grey, and I feel like I'm constantly coloring it (at home) to keep up with it. If I go to a professional and have it lightened a couple of shades w some highlights, would that be easier to keep up with or harder? Is like to do most of the upkeep at home.

@sallyzar10,
Yes lighter tones blend in grey nicer than darker tones do

@sallyzar10,
Go get hilites only(no lolites) from a pro. The hilites blend well with white hair as grey hair does not actually exist. The hair appears as grey from the hair going white,losing its pigment making the remaining hair look drab,cool and grey. There will be no darker roots as dramatic as coloring it dark/natural color just your naturally occurring remaining fully pigmented hair as regrowth. You will need upkeep every 3-6months depending on how much white you have but its always going whiter as we age! If your closer to the 3-4 month appointment ask if you can alternate bookings with full head of foils to half/partial foils per visit to minimize salon cost.
