Bought Fury last night at Barnes and Noble in paperback $12.99 (US).

Did spend a moment or two in the Children's section with a hard of hearing B/N employee as we looked for Furry.

Also looked at Furrbie, the History of the first teachable toy.
and Fergie, the History of the first Human Royal,
Was halfway through
Fury, the big picture book history of the first TV horse with his own show
before thinking . ... well, before having any thoughts at all actually.

Today is my day to go into town where I'll see if it is for sale at Costco, purveyors of all things, before I pay full price somewhere else. It seems a short book.

OK. I"m back. I got the Life of Pi, looks good. They didn't have Fury and I was too tired to go to another store. Tomorrow!

i'll be the first one dump cold water here. went to the bookstore, found fury, opened it up to the middle somewhere and read a couple of pages. for me, i just could not get into this book. i'll pass on this discussion.

picked up an interesting book though- man's search for meaning by viktor e. frankl. it's paperback. a revised and enlarged version of-from death camp to existentialism. i can't believe i've missed this before.

Pueo: Sorry you won't be with us. Your brainwaves must be set to the correct frequency though, so far, about 100 pages, FURY seems to be about the same thing as Frankel wrote about. (or is it? That will be a point of later discussion perhaps.) Smile
On the back of my copy it says:
"For a reading group guide visit www.modernlibrary.com/rgg " which I have not done as yet.

Pueo,

Frankl survived terrible hardship against overwhelming odds and recorded one of the worse cases ever of man's inhumanity to man. But not only did he survive, he came through the ordeal with his mind open to the possibility of a life that is meaningful and basically good. It's inspiring, and a good find you made.

Like you, I sort of stumbled across the book a couple of years ago, probably by some reference to it in a magazine ... how I often come across stuff.

OK. I've got the book in hand, despite Pueo's critique. At least I didn't buy it... the library had a copy on the shelf which, I admit, is not a great sign. I'll start reading this evening.

OK, as Feb 4th draws nigh, I want some direction. Do y'all want me to come up with some discussion topics? If so, when? And where? Should I add to the "notes" or not? (When I brought this up before, seemed more towards "not".)
