As usual, the books are always better than the movies.

I got into this "Classic Maniac chase" reading and watching every single book and movie one after the other or every version of a single movie, I got this book but no luck on the movie on DVD.

However, I still looking for it, I might find it somewhere.

BTW, that threat in Japanese you provided for me - that was a really advance japanese stuff, but I know nothing of Japanese. I have clients from Japan but they are more than happy to speak in English and practice with me Laughing and your Bro sounds like a really cool/smart guy Cool

Thanks, Rayva. He lived in Japan, teaching English, and fell in love with the language, and a Japanese girl, who he married. He's doing a PhD in linguistics at UPenn right now, and yeah, he knows his stuff.

I finally finish the .... book. It got interesting in the last few chapters and the end was very shocking to me. I was expecting a different end for such a vane, self centered, egotistic person.

I'm not so disappointed with the book but I had an even better ending for him - worst than death.

okay, I've started reading the book. I'm liking the character of Lord Henry - but it is a signet classic printing, so there aren't any of the footnotes and such that bothered you Ray.

No telling about the book now - I might not be able to stay away from this thread.

Onyx - Lucky you!

They are a pain - even if you know the meaning of the phrase, you can help but look it up. There are few pages that have up to 5 foot notes - that's how bad it is and you probably didn't get he same lady doing the Introduction to the book - telling you every key point of the plots and everything. Evil or Very Mad

But at the end it was good, it didn't make it to my "Black List" Razz

I hope you enjoy it.

I forgot to tell you-- the whole asterix thing has never been used in any of the English editions of 'The Picture of Dorian Grey;' it must be a publishing quirk. I am glad that you enjoyed it, but was this your first Wilde, or have you read some of the plays? Going for Dorian at the start is an unusual move-- but it is a classic in its own right. It is quite the tragedy that he never lived to write more.

No I think I have a version with the asterisks.

Norton critical edition, with notes and all kinds of essays in back.
