@edgarblythe,
Good morning from a breezeless radio station in Florida.

Mark, Love that song by Little Willie John. Yes, he does because love is a powerful four letter word.

Inspired by my long time friend Roger who said that he was going to the post office and get his love letter, I told them that I hope they weren't Love Letter in the Sand.Smile

Now, a tribute to George Clooney whose birthday is today:

Politics and Shakespeare.

Quote:
Lord Rosebery in his telling speech at Glasgow, adapted Shakespeare
to his purpose and said, "The policy of conciliation is not
strained, but droppeth as the gentle rain from Heaven." But Lord
Salisbury and Mr. Balfour would probably retort, "Exactly; we
let it drop."

Quote:
Archibald Philip Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery, 1st Earl of Midlothian, KG, PC (7 May 1847 – 21 May 1929) was a British Liberal statesman and Prime Minister. Between the death of his father, in 1851, and the death of his grandfather, the 4th Earl, in 1868, he was known by the courtesy title of Lord Dalmeny.

Rosebery first came to national attention in 1879–1880 by sponsoring the successful Midlothian campaign of William Ewart Gladstone. He briefly was in charge of Scottish affairs. This finest performance in office came as chairman of the London County Council in 1889. He entered the cabinet in 1885 and served twice as foreign minister, paying special attention to French and German affairs. He succeeded Gladstone as prime minister and leader of the Liberal party in 1894; the Liberals lost the 1895 election. He resigned the party leadership in 1896 and never again held political office. He was widely known as a brilliant orator, an outstanding sportsman and marksman, a writer and historian, connoisseur and collector. All of these activities attracted him more than politics, which grew boring and unattractive. Furthermore, he drifted to the right of the Liberal party and became a bitter critic of its policies. Winston Churchill, observing that he never adapted to democratic electoral competition, quipped: "He would not stoop; he did not conquer."

Lets go back to George now, y'all. He did The Odyssey. The Cohen Brothers never read it.

Remembering that George was the nephew of Rosemary Clooney.

Ellinas remembered that the epithet to the Odyssey was the rosy fingured dawn.

Today is Freud's birthday, so here is a tribute to that brilliant man:

His balancing of the id, the ego, and the super ego was so factual. Wish our three branches of government:

The Executive, Legislative, and Judicial could be equally balanced. Sad

@edgarblythe,
Funny, Mark. Freud did help the Victorian women by translating their dreams.

Today is Rudolph Valentino's birthday, and I couldn't find the remake of him by Anthony Dexter. Perhaps you can. You are good at those things.

Well, here's Tyrone doing it. <sigh>

Hurry back, pullman. That song gave me a great memory of Smorgs. When I was first introduced to Alice Cooper, I said ALICE?

Then Smorgs sent me a PM laughing and we did a song for her by a lady named Sarah Morgan.

Well, y'all, today is Thor's day here and it reminded me of John Henry.

and a beautiful song by Oliver Wendel Holmes replete with the nautilus.

So long ago, my late husband and I wen through the Big Bend Tunnel and saw a statue of John Henry. Those were happier times.

Remembering Kicky Can now and I played this one for him:

and y'all our poem for today. It's his birthday:

Closed Path - Poem by Rabindranath Tagore

I thought that my voyage had come to its end
at the last limit of my power,---that the path before me was closed,
that provisions were exhausted
and the time come to take shelter in a silent obscurity.

But I find that thy will knows no end in me.
And when old words die out on the tongue,
new melodies break forth from the heart;
and where the old tracks are lost,
new country is revealed with its wonders.
Rabindranath Tagore

An Irish friend of mine once told me that this was Ireland's theme song. He also told me that if I wanted to gain weight, that I should drink beer, so I had a good tall glass of Root Beer. Smile

My computer is acting up. Plus, we went into Tomball to browse the resale shops. Most of what they offer is stuff you might want from nostalgia, but you would have no practical use for it. I did see an old style record turntable I may go back for.
