@Letty,
Are you up for Buddy Holly? Short, but real loud.

Immigration as much a concern then as now, with East Europeans working longer hours and for less money than their British counterparts.

(The poem 'Little Miss Budget' refers to another cartoon which I'll post tomorrow.)

Good morning from our Florida radio station. Not one breath of wind here, y'all.

Roger, I don't know that one by Buddy, but I remember that he, Richie, and The Big Booper inspired Don McLean's song The Day the Music Died. So good to see you back with us, my friend.

Hey Latin George, don't know that song by Jim but it was great. Nice to know that all three Georges are now with us.

Punch man, Hurry back as we all appreciate your historical info on London. Incidentally Punch and Judy are puppets.

Today is Jessica Lang's birthday and I met them both at Mountain Lake. Too bad that she and Sam are no longer together.

I recall her doing this movie about Frances Farmer who was a real lady
with mental problems. Here is the trailer:

Now, I'm playing Jethro again as it didn't work yesterday:

Ah, my visitors have left. Will miss them.

Once again, calling everyone. Smile

Today is Luther's birthday (no, not Martin)

I know this one best by Karen, but he does a good job, too.

@izzythepush,
Well, you sent me searching again, pushman. This is the only version that I could find, dear friend.

Well, y'all, while we await the punch man's answer, here's another great jazz man's birthday. I like him best on vibraphone.

Where is our creator Mark? He knows that the real lone ranger was an African American man named Bass Reeves.

Well, I miss our contributors, but as most of you know, that no longer bothers me.

Saying good afternoon now with three songs. First one inspired by my long time friend in real life, Roger.

This is a cover of the Big Booper:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtBawH1HPR4

Now Julio and Willie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi2AX14eRbk

Now Johnny Depp's version of The Lone Ranger:

Great having England with us and so glad that Georgeob 1 is alright as well as Latin George, and euroGeorge.

From Letty with love to the world.

Good afternoon. Crawling all over two sets of stairs, painting them, wore me out. Had to rest a few hours. Here is one of my fifties favorites by Laverne Baker

As promised here is the cartoon that the poem 'Little Miss Budget,' refers to.

For some reason the cartoon won't display so here's a link instead.

Hi Miss Letty,
How are ye keeping?, well I hope.

The Fureys - May we all someday meet again
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzV27pZFwig

I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately, but for some strange reason which I haven't figured out yet every time I log into A2K my PC goes into melt down, slows, then crashes/freezes.
I don't know why, I use a lot of web-sites, a lot!, and A2K is the only one this happens to me on, go figure.
I remember this used to happen on Rockheads music post but now like I said as soon as I log into A2K at all, computer slows down something terrible.
I'm actually amazed I've got this far without it freezing.

Anyhoo Miss Letty, you take care of yourself, my best wishes to you and best wishes to all other A2Ker's.

edgar, Mark, you sent me searching:

American singer LaVern Baker helped pioneer the R&B sound in the 1950s and released multiple hits with Atlantic Records, including the famous "Tweedle Dee."

You hurry back as well, punch. Funny cartoon:

euroGeorge, we have missed you here and as you know, I love The Furreys.

As I tell a lot of folks, I'm doing better than I deserve. Smile

Two songs for the morning here in our Florida radio station:

First, a birthday man:

Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show toured London in 1887. This is Punch's reply.
Quote:

" BELGRAVIA. BOB'S " SHOW.
(From the " Yankee Gridiron Gazette.")
The Show of which " Belgravia Bob " is the Boss, is intended to
represent in a vivid manner all the striking and exciting incidents
connected with High Life in the West. In London it covered a
space of more than a thousand acres (including Kensington), and
was composed of nearly three thousand chaperones, debutantes,
dancing-men, and millionnaires, all intended to illustrate fashionable
life. It exhibits the chasing and capturing of county heirs by the
wily dowager and her talented assistants and daughters, the darlings
of the New Club and the Park. Belgravia Bob explains the myste-
ries of pilling at the Club, baccarat, and flying kites. He also has
an encounter with a grass widow (from India) in which he comes off
second-best. Mr. Henry Irving is expected to be delighted with
the Show, and to say "that it speaks to him from its heart, and is
the best thing that, has ever been produced by London—outside the
Lyceum Theatre," wherein indeed much of the Show is often seen.

Quote:
Sir Henry Irving (6 February 1838 – 13 October 1905), born John Henry Brodribb, sometimes known as J.H Irving was an English stage actor in the Victorian era, known as an actor-manager because he took complete responsibility (supervision of sets, lighting, direction, casting, as well as playing the leading roles) for season after season at the Lyceum Theatre, establishing himself and his company as representative of English classical theatre. He was the first actor to be awarded a knighthood. Irving is thought to have been the inspiration for the title character in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula.

Hurry back, Punch man. Love to learn ancient history from you. Your Irving reminded me of Washington Irving. Smile

edgar, that song by Paul Anka was a great one. You hurry back as well.

Three contributions for today.
First, inspired by our Englishman.

Now, one for earth day:

Reminded me of my son in happier times.

Now, a telling song, y'all.

My favourite line.

That boozy English day at the Brighton Race Courses.
(The wind blew my skirt up & it frightened the horses).
