@edgarblythe,
Don't Look Down, Elvis:

Love Oxford Town by Bob Dylan, Mark.

Going to say good afternoon with two songs.

First, Perry Como:

As I have often noted, if I could compare a poet and a musician, it would be Robert Browning.

Now, Robert:

Good morning from our "needs fixing" radio station in Florida.

edgar, great photo of "little miss dynamite".

First, I am wondering why I can no longer send or get PM's

Now, It's Victor Hugo's Birthday, and I couldn't find a trailer to
The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but here is a poem by him.

The dawn is smiling on the dew that covers The tearful roses; lo, the little lovers That kiss the buds, and all the flutterings In jasmine bloom, and privet, of white wings, That go and come, and fly, and peep and hide, With muffled music, murmured far and wide. Ah, the Spring time, when we think of all the lays That dreamy lovers send to dreamy mays, Of the fond hearts within a billet bound, Of all the soft silk paper that pens wound, The messages of love that mortals write Filled with intoxication of delight, Written in April and before the May time Shredded and flown, playthings for the wind's playtime, We dream that all white butterflies above, Who seek through clouds or waters souls to love, And leave their lady mistress in despair, To flit to flowers, as kinder and more fair, Are but torn love-letters, that through the skies Flutter, and float, and change to butterflies.
Victor Hugo

Now, a salute to Johnny Cash whose birthday is today:

Cold Poem
~Mary Oliver

Cold now.
Close to the edge. Almost
unbearable. Clouds
bunch up and boil down
from the north of the white bear.
This tree-splitting morning
I dream of his fat tracks,
the lifesaving suet.

I think of summer with its luminous fruit,
blossoms rounding to berries, leaves,
handfuls of grain.

Maybe what cold is, is the time
we measure the love we have always had, secretly,
for our own bones, the hard knife-edged love
for the warm river of the I, beyond all else; maybe

that is what it means the beauty
of the blue shark cruising toward the tumbling seals.

In the season of snow,
in the immeasurable cold,
we grow cruel but honest; we keep
ourselves alive,
if we can, taking one after another
the necessary bodies of others, the many
crushed red flowers.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for you comment, Mark. Didn't know that one by "the king", so thanks for the memory.

My favorite by Elvis because it was inspired by Alexander Pope:

Charice Pempengco is a new singer who is just beginning to get attention. She does a powerful version of All By Myself.

Good morning from a rather chilly radio station here in Florida. A North East wind in blowing and I recall the manager of North Beach Campground having said that Northeasters did more damage than hurricanes.

Latin George, St. Louis Blues is one of my favorites. Had no idea that
group was from Florida. Hurry back, my long time friend.

Gurda, You hurry back as well. That song All By Myself by that fantastic Philippine singer was outstanding, my friend.

Calling Olivier5 now with a French song and the English lyric s.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4REbp0s_G9w

Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose
When you kiss me, Heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose
When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak
Angels sing from above
Every day words
Seem to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose

Now, a tribute to Longfellow whose birthday is today.

Once again, calling all of you folks out there.

We will never know what happened to the lightning bugs and glow worms.

Here are The Mills Brothers and Chet Atkins reminding us.

Now, Chet:

When I was a kid, I caught lightning bugs in a jar, then rubbed some of the luminous stuff on my fingers.

I like Longfellow for being a mellow dude. Andrea's song's one of the goodies.

@Letty,
As you noted, Letty, Charice Pempengco is from the Phillipines. On the television show, Glee, she played a character named Sunshine Corazon. In this video clip, her character sings I Will Always Love You.
