Thanks for helping me remember this song I learned over 50 years ago.I learned this song in the 3rd grade during "music," then performed it with my little brother for our grandparents: He was the voice of the rooster, singing "cuckadoodle-doo" after each line:
Three whole nights I've lain awake,
For my little rooster’s sake,
Came the dawn,
He was gone,
And I thought my heart would break.
He had feathers blue and bright, and he crowed with
All his might
When he’d sing
Flapped his wings
He was such a gorgeous sight.
France and Spain I’ve hunted through and to Germany and Peru
