Making good on my threat from yesterday, here's the second half of our show tonight.
Next up, "Meditation", a bossa nova from the pen of the great Antonio Carlos Jobim, here performed by Lenny Breau, who left us way too soon:
"Hard Times" is a change of pace, a gospel-tinged tune written by Paul Mitchell but made famous by David Newman and Ray Charles:
Our second Sonny Rollins tune, here's his laid-back but still stinging 13 bar blues, "Decision":
And we'll take it out with another blues (a 12 bar blues with a hot shout chorus), our second Al Cohn tune, "A.C. Meets Osie", from a great studio date with lots of tight playing:
Then we'll pack up, turn the bandstand over to the next group, and I'll be home before 10:00! Happy New Year!
