Jean-Philippe Smet, aka Johnny Hallyday, receives a "popular hommage" -- not an official national hommage, rather something organised by fans -- in an odd mixture of religious rites, rock n' roll memorabilia, republican pump, bickers meeting and street demonstrations of mourning in Paris today. A few friends and fellow musicians will play (at church) some of his best songs, without his famed voice. This to underline his absence of course.
He was a lot of things, good or bad, but primarily a great showman and a generous voice.

Good morning. It's birthday number 101 for Kirk Douglas.

This song tells a different story in English than the original French version.
