@edgarblythe,
Oh, that reminds me of Twitty's Lay You Down. In spite of the lyrics, it turned out to be a really great love song.

@roger,
Conway was a great artist, from the silly to the sublime, in my opinion. He was my first concert.

@edgarblythe,
Mine too, by golly. Unlike today, concerts were comprised of several artists. I forget the others, but Conway sneered right at me when me and a buddy walked right in front of the stage to get better seats.

It was called The Shine of Stars, Shine being some sort of spray on shoe polish. You could get in for a buck and two Shine labels. I'm betting you couldn't find a can with a label in the whole city of Miami.

@roger,
When I saw Conway, in Corpus Christi, he was solo. 400 people came. Down the way in Alice, Texas, Jerry Lee Lewis got the crowd. 8,000 people. Conway sounded great, however.

Petty grew on me. For a long time I didn't notice him and then he gradually got into my head with some great music. He was relatively young.
