Going to say good afternoon a bit early now as it is dark and dusty in our Florida radion.

Just as Buddy Holly was the first to perform wearing glasses, Andrea was the first blind man NOT to wear glasses.

Incidentally, there really was a phantom of the opera, Eric, but he was born with deformities like the boy king.

Taxi Girl - Cherchez le Garçon

As gay as they come... Taxi Girl was basically a duo: Daniel Darc, singer, ended up pretty sadly (drugs) while the instrumentalist, Mirwais Ahmadzaï, went on to collaborate with Madonna in the late 1990s (produced her albums Music, American Life, and part of Confession On The Dancefloor).

Good chilly morning from our Florida radio station.

ehBeth,. I loved both of your Tami songs. They reminded me of Tami's in Love

Ah, Mon Ami, Loved that gay guy doing Taxi Girl. Always learn from you my Roman friend from France.

Two songs from MeLee this morning.

It's Jennifer Jason Lee's birthday, but I couldn't find a decent recording of Cabaret by her, so let's listen to the great gal:

Now, The Lettermen:

@Letty,
"Cabaret" is a carpe diem kind of song.

Start by admitting from cradle to tomb.
It isn't that long a stay.

Wet sloppy snow here in Stoneham.
I'm just hanging out on WA2K playing to some jazz vocals.

@George,
Ah, my long time friend, Latin George.

You're right about Cabaret. It is about "live for the day"

As you know, I love Diana Krall (broad a) and the Ray Brown trio doing I Thought About You. Rockin Chair Blues was also a good one. I still have my wicker rocking chair and it's been used many times by me. Smile

Thinking about The Alamo today. Bet edgar will remember it.

First, the original theme:

Now, Marty Robbins tell the story:

I like songs that tell history, y'all. Here's one by "the man in black" that tells the truth about mining:

Miners were paid with script that could only be redeemed at the local company store.

I have watched all of the Alamo movies, letty. John Wayne's version is the most fanciful and preachy. I prefer Fess Parker. Also fanciful, but more to my liking.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, Mr. Creator, thanks for the comment and personal acknowledgement. Loved Fess and Buddy doing old Betsy. Smile

To match my Johnny Cash coal mine song, I looked back at happier times when the rural school where I taught (now gone)was still up and going.

My students said this was my theme song:

I really like Elton John. He also did a tribute to David Bowie. <snifff>

I love Johnny Cash and also the Elton John song, letty.

This song, when I first heard it on the radio, I guessed it could perhaps be by Toni Tenille. Wrong.

@edgarblythe,
I didn't particularly like Bobby, Mr. Creator, but thought I would just add a mix of music for here today.

Love Eddie Fisher doing Lady of Spain.
