Thank goodness for the blue skies here today, y'all. Last evening it was really scary. Tons of rain and wind, and I thought of hurricane Danny.l

Here is the theme song for last evening:

Thinking of melodies today, and here are three beautiful ones.

Now, The Ames Brothers:

It's still Caesar's month, so here is a sad one with Chopin song in the
background:

I hope someone out there can help me discover the name of that classical beauty.

@tsarstepan,
Welcome back, my long time friend.

Wow! that song by The Cars doing long time magic was fantastic. Wonder if there was any meaning to him walking on the water?

Here's another country boy now:

@Letty,
It's the 1980's. Bands just made weird videos to get noticed. I wouldn't read too much into them.

@tsarstepan,
I know, dear friend, it's called cognitive insight.

Saying good afternoon now as I'm having a few problems.

First, Leonard and Judy:De

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UASy-aY2T0

Now, Debussy again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LXl4y6D-QI

and our poem for today:

Alfred Lord Tennyson:

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

From Letty with love to everyone here

Wake up everybody, it's going to be a bright sunshiny day here in our Florida radio station.
I never see that olive garden commercial that I don't think of Olivier 5. Hey, son of France awake to glory; hark hark what merit bids you rise. Smile

Three songs for the morning here. First, a birthday guy who is my favorite James Bond:

@Letty,

Scottish stuff, does that appeal to your listeners?
There's a lot of it out there.

@McTag,
I sang that song when I was a wee thing, Mac. I had no idea that it meant lake.

Here's some interesting info, dear friend:
Is Sean Connery Scottish?

His mother, Euphamia McBain (Maclean), was a cleaning lady, and his father, Joseph Connery, was a factory worker and truck driver. He also has a brother named Neil Connery, who works as a plasterer in Edinburgh. He is of Irish and Scottish descent.

Now, another birthday guy. No, not Presley. Smile

What a great trio:

Where are all our poets and music lovers. I know McTag is one, where are the others.

Here's a poet that I don't know, so first some info:

Arthur Yvor Winters (geboren am 17. Oktober 1900 in Chicago, Illinois; gestorben am 25. Januar 1968 in Palo Alto, Kalifornien) war ein amerikanischer Dichter und Literaturkritiker. Er war Universitätsprofessor an der Universität Stanford.

Now, his poem:

Night of Battle
By Yvor Winters

Europe: 1944
as regarded from a great distance
Impersonal the aim
Where giant movements tend;
Each man appears the same;
Friend vanishes from friend.

In the long path of lead
That changes place like light
No shape of hand or head
Means anything tonight.

Only the common will
For which explosion spoke;
And stiff on field and hill
The dark blood of the folk.

Well, it's time for me to say good afternoon now, and I'm doing so with the English bus driver:

I still think that Sean Connery was the best James Bond.

Great having Scotland and England with us as well as my Brooklyn friends:

Tsar and Bert Lee. (sorry that he can't access our radio station)

Preguntitas sobre Dios --- Questions About God

Un día yo pregunté: --- One day I asked:
Abuelo, dónde está Dios. --- Grandpa, where is God?
Mi abuelo se puso triste, --- My grandfather became sad,
Y nada me respondió. --- and he did not answer me.
Mi abuelo murió en los campos, --- My grandpa died in the fields,
Sin rezo ni confesión. --- Without prayer nor confession.
Y lo enterraron los indios, --- And the Indians buried him,
Flauta de caña y tambor. --- With reed flute and drum.

Al tiempo yo pregunté: --- Some time I asked:
¿Padre, qué sabes de Dios? --- Father, what do you know about God?
Mi padre se puso serio --- My father became all serious
Y nada me respondió. --- And he did not answer me.
Mi padre murió en la mina --- My father died in the mine
Sin doctor ni protección. --- Without doctor nor protection.
¡Color de sangre minera --- The color of the miner's blood
Tiene el oro del patrón! --- Means gold for the bosses!

Mi hermano vive en los montes --- My brother lives in the mountains
Y no conoce una flor. --- And knows no flower.
Sudor, malaria, serpientes, --- Sweat, malaria, snakes,
La vida del leñador. --- The life of a lumberjack.
Y que nadie le pregunte --- And nobody ever asked
Si sabe donde está Dios. --- If he knows where God is.
Por su casa no ha pasado --- For his home was never visited
Tan importante señor. --- By important people.

Yo canto par los caminos, --- I sing for the pathes,
Y cuando estoy en prisión --- And when I am in prison
Oigo las voces del pueblo --- I hear the voices of the people
Que canto mejor que yo. --- They sing better than me.
Hay un asunto en la tierra --- There is one issue on earth
más importante que Dios. --- More important than God.
Y es que nadie escupa sangre --- And it is that nobody spits blood
Pa que otro viva mejor. --- To improve somebody else's life.

¿Que Dios vela por los pobres? --- God watches over the poor?
Talvez sí, y talvez no. --- Maybe yes and maybe no.
Pero es seguro que almuerza --- But he surely lunches
En la mesa del patrón. --- At the table of the rich.

Atahualpa Yupanqui

@Olivier5,
Welcome back, Mon Ami. Some songs don't need translating. As you know, just as I like the cockney patois, I love the French patois.

The translation made me feel sad, but now I am cheered up.

I awakened this morning thinking of my mamma. Our English friend referred to his as mum.

Two songs now:

@Letty,
Some musics and some lyrics are meant to be sad, and that's okay... We don't need to live in permanent hilarity, I think.

@Olivier5,
Mon Ami, I loved that song by Rachid Taha, and also like men wearing hats.

That chair he was sitting one reminded me of my rosewood chair and small sofa.

I still have my Mamma's rosewood casket sitting on my coffee table in my TV room.

Thanks for the smile.

How about another rose:
