and, for all of our royalists out there, It's King Edwards the VIII's birthday:

and, to go with the king, be he good or bad:

As we all have noted before, The Star Spangled Banner should have remained a poem. This should be our anthem.

That is the song they should have chosen, letty, I agree.

"Oklahoma Hills" is a song written by Woody Guthrie. Members of the Western Writers of America chose it as one of the Top 100 Western songs of all time.[1]
Jack Guthrie, Woody's cousin, later changed the lyrics and music and in 1945 recorded a Western swing version which he took to number one on the Juke Box Folk Records charts

Who would have thought a 77 year-old man with Alzheimer's would make a music video, win a Grammy for Best Country Song, and be nominated for an Academy Award?

Saying good after noon now:

As edgar/mark knows, one doesn't have to be a theist to enjoy religious music:

Good evening, WA2K and welcome to the Graveyard Shift.

We heard an authentic western song and Bing Crosby. Let's play some
inauthentic western songs, the first of which is sung by Der Bingle.

Well, let's not allow Wodin to hammer us. Instead, let's allow the sunshine in:

Saying good afternoon now. First, inspired by Regions' spoonerism, Mel Torme and Shearing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBGCTQ--ztQ

Now, a marvelous performer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdbAYcKfPxY

and, y'all, the lyrics:

It's cherry pink and apple blossom white
When your true lover comes your way
It's cherry pink and apple blossom white
The poets say

The story goes that once a cherry tree
Beside an apple tree did grow,
And there a boy once met his bride to be
Long, long ago

The boy looked into her eyes
It was a feat to enthrall
The breezes started their sighs
The blossoms started to fall
And, as they gently caressed
The lovers looked up to find
The branches of the two trees
Were intertwined

And so that's why the poets often write
When there's a new moon up above
It's cherry pink and apple blossom white
When you're in love

Great having England with us, perhaps more countries tomorrow.

From Letty with love to the world
