A brief epigram that could be said today.

Quote:
A generous exchange.

A genial host wrote to a
friend, "You give me a date,
and I'll give you a dinner."

Good morning to all from a lovely day here in our Florida radio station.

Latin George, I love your Panama songs.

Neko, Good to see and HEAR you HERE. Teenager in Love was a golden oldie and hurry back, dear friend.

Hey, pullman. Used to have dinner dates all the time when we were doing our music. Good quote, dear friend.

Well, no big storm last night at all. The weather people here are often off key. Smile

Three songs for the morning here in our station. First, a birthday man that I really love:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkal2bNKZe4

My favorite by him was Killer Kane in The Ninth Configuration TV movie.

Now, The Jester:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwSZvHqf9qM

Inspired by Latin George's giggle, I thought of The Big Bopper:

"...and a giggle when she talks..." Smile

Sorry for the repetition, y'all. I asked our editor to change a name, and Windows 8 tricked him. <sigh>

I used to watch Mickey Spillane stuff. Tangled Up has been one of Dylan's best received songs. Still love Big Bopper.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comments, Mark. That song by Doris said volumes. "whatever will be will be". I used to say: "everything must be interpreted in the light of the setting event." In other words. You had to be there.

They still have a branch bank here, and the original stage. Love this one by Doris:

First Sergio:

Now, a girl from (well, not exactly Latin America, but close).

Sorry for the risque part.

@edgarblythe,
Love it, Mark, and here are the English lyrics:

Xavier Cugat

Brazil, where hearts were entertaining June,
We stood beneath an amber moon
And softly murmured "someday soon."
We kissed and clung together,
Then, tomorrow was another day
The morning found me miles away
With still a million things to say;
Now, when twilight dims the sky above
Recalling thrills of our love,
There's one thing I'm certain of
Return I will to old Brazil.

@edgarblythe,
Oops Mr. Moto Frank's a coffee pot. Smile The Mills Brother did that as well, Mark.

Well, we know that today is named after this gal, so let's listen to Tuesday:

First, some info:

Tuesday Weld is an American actress. She began acting when she was a child, and progressed to mature roles in the late 1950s. She won a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Female Newcomer in 1960.

@Letty,
Hope I can come to our radio station later. Having a few problems.

Three songs for the afternoon:

First Andrea Bocelli with a song from Phantom of the Opera. As we know, there really was an Eric, but like the boy king, he was born with deformities.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZTsIljP9RQ

Now, Norah doing Summertime:

and a funny one that edgar/Mark and I know because of the opposite version.

Wonderful having England with us. Perhaps tomorrow more countries.

From Letty with love to the world

I wish I could find that Pogo Possum comic strip of Summer is Icummin In. A takeoff on the Ezra Pound poem. Hilarious.

Good evening, WA2K, and welcome to the Graveyard Shift.

A very Brazilian flavor to today's offerings.

Letty played "Mas Que Nada" for us. What a great rhythm.

Edgarblythe gave us "Brazil" by Xavier Cougat. Whatever happened to
Charo who used to call him "Coogie" (Xavier, not edgar)?

edgar, What a surprise to find out that Matt Monroe did West Side Story. Enjoyed that one by Andy as well.

Again, Punch's right wing credentials on display.

Quote:
The Burnt Builder does not Dread the Fire.—The Commune did a vast
amount of evil in Paris, and Communists were guilty of wanton destruction.
If they had destroyed all the Theatres, and if, which is more important, Architects
could have been found to construct new ones with comfortable seats, wide
staircases, and many means of easy ingress and egress, something might have
been forgiven to the Commune. But let us look at home. How many of our
Theatres, which are comfortable enough as far as seats go, will stand the test of a panic ? And how about the Churches ?

Quote:
The Paris Commune was a revolutionary socialist government that ruled Paris from 18 March to 28 May 1871. Following the defeat of Emperor Napoleon III in September 1870, the French Second Empire swiftly collapsed. In its stead rose a Third Republic at war with Prussia, who subjected Paris to a brutal four-month siege. A hotbed of working-class radicalism, during this time France's capital was primarily defended not by the regular French Army, but by the often politicized and radical troops of National Guard. In February 1871 Adolphe Thiers, the new chief executive of the French national government, signed an armistice with Prussia that disarmed the Army but not the National Guard.

The killing of two French army generals by soldiers of the Commune's National Guard and the refusal of the Commune to accept the authority of the French government led to its harsh suppression by the regular French Army in "La semaine sanglante" ("The Bloody Week") beginning on 21 May 1871. Debates over the policies and outcome of the Commune had significant influence on the ideas of Karl Marx, who described it as an example of the "dictatorship of the proletariat".
