Good Monday morning here in our Florida radio station.

edgar/Mark, Spike Jones doing that Hawaiian War Chant was funny. Loved We Are the World by that fantastic group of vocalists, dear friend.

Tsar, I missed your comment on Bug's version of Hotel California. Glad you liked it and you hurry back.

You hurry back as well, Punch man. Orkney Isles was a great conversion of cockney patois.

Latin George, I had a great mother's day. My daughter bought me the most beautiful silk dress in fantastic colors and I got a lot of compliments on it at the outback restaurant where we dined

Hope I didn't miss anyone. Just a reminder. We don't do the rating system here as it doesn't match the format.

Three songs for today. First, the Queen of Hawaii sings:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnpQBNzenLk

Now, a clipper ship:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAnGe40-o9Q

Hope that one worked, my pc misbehaves sometimes.

Now, another by "the singing ranger" that I love becaue it refers to a little fish with a big name. Smile

I think that most of you know that I look back at happier times, but today I looked at birthdays tomorrow, and I found this guy. First some info:

Leon Eric "Kix" Brooks III (born on May 12, 1955) is an American country music artist, actor, and film producer best known for being one half of the duo Brooks & Dunn and host of radio's American Country Countdown. Prior to the duo's foundation, he was a singer and songwriter, charting twice on Hot Country Songs and releasing an album for Capitol Records. Brooks and Ronnie Dunn comprised Brooks & Dunn for 20 years, with both members beginning solo careers. Brooks's solo career after Brooks & Dunn has included the album New to This Town.

Bring it on home, Kix:

I just noticed that Latin George has a new avatar. Great one!

edgar/Mark, Love that Brook, buddy.

Having some problems here, but I'll say good afternoon with two songs.

Another Brook:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcGiZ74wb0M

and, from The Rolling Stones.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC0Qt1lvLq8

Odd, Tried to find "the king" doing Only Fools Rush in in his white costume, no luck. It was a song based on a poem by Alexander Pope and my info said the lyrics were written by Johnny Mercer. I'm confused. Anyone surprised? Smile

Great having England with us

NO ROSE "WITHOUT A THORN(-EYCROFT).

Thorneycroft's Spanish torpedo boat,
Is the very fastest vessel afloat.
If they run her aground, at speed, what's more,
She'll be the fastest vessel ashore.

So whether ashore or whether afloat,
She'll ne'er be a torpid torpedo boat.
But if ever she runs at our ships full speed-o,
We hope she'll run over her own torpedo,
And cut the record in going aloft,
To keep up the honour of Thorneycroft.

Quote:
The colonial service Defender-class torpedo boats were designed by Thornycroft & Company for the defence of New Zealand, built at Chiswick in 1883 and shipped to New Zealand. They were quickly obsolete and were left to deteriorate in situ. The remains of Defender are preserved at the Lyttelton Torpedo Boat Museum.

Good morning to all from our radio station here in Florida.

Hurry back izz with a y. Love your ancient history info. When we stayed at North Beach Campground, there was a rescue station called Chicamacomico and they had Breeches Boys where men could enter the ocean and save people shot by submarines. Now North Beach is totally in ruin..

It where we met Charlie and Leah Bendorf:

Here's a bit of history concerning the subs:

edgar/Mark, you hurry back as well. Love Brook singing about the Bowl Weevels.

These are good songs for the morning here. More Burt by Diana Krall:

How about more music, y'all.

Lionel and Tim:

Now, Elton John:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTa8U0Wa0q8

Now, our poem for today:

George Gordon Lord Byron
"Awake, Ye Sons Of Spain!..."
(From "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage," Canto One, XXXVII)

Awake, ye Sons of Spain! awake! advance!
Lo! Chivalry, your ancient goddess, cries,
But wields not, as of old, her thirsty lance,
Nor shakes her crimson plumage in the skies:
Now on the smoke of blazing bolts she flies,
And speaks in thunder through yon engine roar:
In every peal she calls – “Awake! arise!”
Say, is her voice more feeble than of yore,
When her war-song was heard on Andalusia’s shore?

@edgarblythe,
Welcome back, Mr. Creator. I love You Don't Have to Be a Star by that couple.

Here's Dean Martin singing the song that I learned to play by reading the notes. I'm saying good after with it, y'all.

Good morning to all from out radio station her in Florida.

edgar/mark, Thanks again for your comment and personal acknowledgement on that song that I played.

Had no idea that Nat did Stardust. Lovely.

My late husband loved this one by him:

The Nat Cole Trio:

Latin George, You missed the tribute to Pope Pius, but I liked your Blue Magoos and Prunes doing those two songs.

As McTag knows I have Scottish blood too, and I just saw that The Blue Bells of Scotland and loved it.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for jogging my memory, Edgar. Is/was there a prettier sound/singing group/lead singer than this? (not the best hairdo for Marilyn, though).
Here's my Fave ballad of those times:

Motto for the Channel Tunnel Fanatics.—"A little more
than Watkin and less than kind."

Quote:
Sir Edward William Watkin, 1st Baronet (26 September 1819 – 13 April 1901) was a British Member of Parliament and railway entrepreneur. He was an ambitious visionary, and presided over large-scale railway engineering projects to fulfil his business aspirations, eventually rising to become chairman of nine different British railway companies.

Among his more notable projects were his expansion of the Metropolitan Railway (part of today's London Underground network); the construction of the Great Central Main Line, a purpose-built high-speed railway line; and a failed attempt to dig a channel tunnel under the English Channel to connect his railway empire to the French rail network.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Watkin

The actual construction of the successful channel tunnel didn't start until just over 100 years later in 1988, and was completed in 1994.
