Heredity

I was wondering if I would have the ginger gene. My grandmother was a ginger until 6, when she got scarlet fever, and lost all of her hair. Her hair grew back a very very dark auburn, almost brown looking. My Grandmother's son (my father) has dark brown hair. I have dirty blonde hair. Both sides of my family are from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England. My mother doesn't seem to remember having a ginger family member. Any help would be great.
