I need help understandng it. No Negative comments. Poem down below

Honesty is a good
Thing but
It is not profitable to
Its possessor
Unless it is
Kept under control
If you are not
Honest at all
Everybody hates you
And if you are
Absolutely honest
You get Martyred

What don't you understand? The poet is saying if you are totally dishonest with people you will be unpopular, also that you if you are totally honest they won't like you either. Not a new idea.

It is not realistic to make stipulations of this type.

You have to find a comfortable mix between honesty and deceitfulness. If a used car salesman was totally honest, he wouldn't be able to sell his junk cars. If he was totally deceitful, people would hate him and never buy any cars. People love an honest person. A honest person you can always trust to never take your money. A honest person is usually not a rich person. If you want to be rich, you have to be deceitful in some if not most aspects. If you don't care about money, then honest will make people love you. If you love money, you can't be totally honest. Hope you get the picture of what that poem is about. You must find a comfortable mix of the two.
