Original: The Drifters "Up On The Roof"

Sequel: The Drifters "Under The Boardwalk"
First line: Oh when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof
And your shoes get so hot you wish your tired feet were fire proof
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be

Both big hits in the early sixties, one right after the other.

The Hank Ballard trilogy was mighty risque.

While doing this and that today, I happened across a other sequel set. This comes from The Bobettes, a girl group from the late 50s. They had a hit with Mr.Lee and some time later came out with I Shot Mr.Lee

That Ruby really was a bitch, wasn't she?

Yeah, sorry I didn't take the time to answer your letters. I was a little busy over here.

@chai2,
Walter Brennan did Ruby, too. I really liked him.

@edgarblythe,
For this game can you name a song one artist did that prompted some other artist to create an answer?

Hank Ballard, work with me, Annie.

Turns out, she worked pretty good, eh? Annie had a baby---that's what happens when the gittin gets good.

@edgarblythe,
Ok, the first combo I thought of was Neil Young's 'Southern Man' followed by 'Alabama'. Then Lynard Skynard released 'Sweet Home Alabama', WOW....I loved everything about it...the melody, the lyrics.....plus it was the first time I learned about 'Muscle Shoals' wowie....that studio recorded so many artists that I loved....I won't list them , the studio was magical.
