Sotades of Maronea (about 370 BC) is credited with being the inventor of the palindrome. He is thought to have employed the device in many of his writings - writings that were often so obscene and defamatory that finally, having insulted Ptolemy II that he was encased in lead and drowned.
Can anyone donate a Palindrome to this one?
GO DELIVER A DARE VILE DOG
This one's kind of idiotic, but a friend and I actually came up with it while waiting for our hors d'oeuvres at a seafood restaurant:
X Clam Won Tons? Not now, Malc X!
This one has a logical sequence to it:
A MAN, A PLAN, A CANAL, PANAMA
It's how I remember being introduced to the palindrome many years ago.
Or, the two alleged inhabitants of Eden:
Madam, Adam.
Eve.
Here's a true story about a guy from Florida whose name was palindromic:
LEON NOEL was born on Christmas Eve in 1908 and became a child celebrity in his hometown of Valparaiso, Indiana. He was included in Robert L. Ripley's Ripley's Believe It or Not. Noel lived most of his life in St. Petersburg, Fla. He died in Largo, Fla., on Christmas Day 1999.
Here's a weird one - see if you can pronounce it:
GLYCYLGLYCYLGLYCYLGLYCINE has a 19-letter internal palindrome from the first to the last C and another 19-letter palindrome from the first G to the last G
And in the spirit of Palindromes, someone invented this word:
AIBOHPHOBIA - the fear of palindromes
Word that is also the same upside down (in addition to being a palindrome):
NOON
A slut nixes sex in Tulsa
Madam, I'm Adam
Deified
O H O
This word has horizontal symmetry, vertical symmetry, and is a palindrome.
OK...it's your turn now, CDK
I <<< not fair but I don't wanna rack my brain on this one.
