scarlett, The Red Tent--like the cover, in my estimation was overdramatic, over-rated.
same with The Corrections-- great cover, but what a pretentious book.
i always look at the cover, but i have to read the inside flap to see what the content is. then, if it seems interesting i read the first few paragraphs to get an idea. public libraries are great for this.
