Or should you? Let's share links to cover images (they can usually be found at Amazon) that have caught our eye. Old or new, doesn't matter. What do you like or dislike about the cover? And are there any books you've been tempted to buy because of the cover?
Here's a weird one--
"Headless"
A Cornell Box?
Pretty
This subject interests me a lot, will be back tomorrow to go on and on about it, perhaps not until late evening tomorrow.
I hope others answer too.
Well, if you really know, I almost always judge a book by its cover. It's a habit...I mean who would want to read something that has no pictures on it. I mean, if I see something that is old and has curvatures on it, I would immediately know it's one of the olden books that I would hate to read so I wouldn't.
Also, in fifth grade, the first Harry Potter book was published and I was the first person in my school to take the book out and read it. Well, how did I know this book was going to be good? I looked at the cover. It was obviously about a boy who seems to have magic and who is flying on a broom. Who doesnt at age 11 want to read something about magic and stuff? SO I read it. and It was good!
The only thing i have against is judging the book by it's back cover. I mean, think of it this way: the back cover is written by the author himself. He would always make it sound exciting and good. But that doesn't mean it's good, do u know what i mean? So always be wary of the back cover!
I devour Atwood but the cover did nothing for me
Venetian stories is gorgeous
wow, that makes me want to go to the bookstore and get some more books.
We just were given 6 boxes of books from a friend of ours. Most of them I have not read. So dh (dear husband) won't let me buy any books for a while. I guess that's good because our pocket book needs a rest.
I know that this might be an even worse habit than your judgement by pictures:
I usually fall for those titels saying "#1 NY Times bestseller" and stuff like that.
Makes me feel important I guess...
Jar - the pics are really small, what are the names of the books?
Hehe Ray, the cover of the second book does look like one hell ride of a fantasy to me :-D
I know!
I haven't read it yet but those are three books that I'll be checking out soon.
Those are R. A. Salvatore's War Of the Spider Queen book 2: Insurrection by Margaret Reis, "The Thousand Orcs", by Salvatore, & War of the SPider Queen book 4: Extinction. There should be full-size cover art at Amazon.com or B&N.
Lost my bloody passwords, sorry.
Here's a new one I like, wonder what it's about?
