A guy not particularly famous now, John D. Craig. He had a book he wrote named Danger is My Business about his and friends' diving exploits during, if I remember, the thirties, and several television shows/series later on. I had the book, that he had given to my dad with a signed note on the beginning pages, but in all my moving of, say, fifty years, somewhere in there I gave it away. Whacks self with bags of seashells..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_D._Craig

worth a read..

He was a colleague and friend of my father's. Actually, he's the one who taught me, one afternoon when we were visiting him and his family, how to use a bow and arrow. Heh - I got the arrow just an eence away from the bulls eye (my only try at that, ever). I've memories of his coming to our house in the Chicago area for dinner several times, and his many stories that amazed me - that was in the early fifties when I was between 9 and 13 years old. Primo listening time.

@ossobuco,
Adds, re the wiki article and his military career, he and my father were in the plane that shot photo down the center of the Baker a-bomb explosion, my father the head of photo for the tests and Craig the photographer in the plane. That was a first time thing. I consider them both brave.

George Page and Donald Johanson, the latter who first discovered the fossilized remains of an Australopithecus afarensis, whom he called "Lucy." They hosted the first season of PBS' "Nature" together after which George Page hosted and narrated by himself. That was probably my favorite show in the eighties.

Sorry to be a pia. This guy is not an expert. I saw him on Larry King. Larry asked him if we know why cheetahs are so fast. He said no. Hell, I know the answer to that. Fie on Hanna.

What about Jim Fowler?

I cheated and lumped the two together. I also took the liberty to use the following image as the two gentlemen don't have any mug shots in the IMDb photo galleries:

Not compared to the peregrine falcon which can hit speeds of 200 mph.
