Guess The Rule

Reply Sun 13 Jul, 2014 03:05 pm
I will give you three numbers and you must guess what rule the numbers are following. The point is to say what the rule is but you can say three numbers and I will confirm whether they obey my rule or not.

The numbers are 2, 4, 8

The obvious one is 3, 6, 12...but I suspect that is not going to work for your rule.

@Procrustes,
Your rule is multiplying by 2. 2x2 is 4, 2x4 is 8, 2x8 is therefore 16 next.

@fresco,
14, 24, 40 agrees with the rule but it isn't 2 more than the sum of the last pair

11, 15, 19 agrees with the rule but has nothing to do with letters increasing by 1
