Seriously. It's a fancy way of saying that positive thinking is a good thing, and that a lot of times we self-sabotage. I don't argue with either of those premises. They are both valid. Cancer patients with positive outlooks, for example, tend to do better than those with defeatist attitudes. Same with people trying to lose weight. If you feel it doesn't matter, you'll take that extra ounce of, say, potato chips. And the truth is, an ounce of potato chips isn't horrible. But when you are a defeatist, you tend to justify these small poor decisions, and they count. You know, it's what Senator Everett Dirksen said, "A million here, a million there", and pretty soon you're talking real money.
But it's not a law of the universe or the like. And sometimes we deserve wonderful things, but we still don't get them. Why? Because life ain't fair. There are no karmic account books.
