From AP.
Quote:
In Washington, Rubio has muscled his way to the forefront of major domestic and foreign policy debates, becoming a leading Republican voice for more robust action in geopolitical hot spots from Venezuela to Russia to China. Next week, he will detail his ideas to bolster retirement security and overhaul entitlement programs.

"The true American dream is not about what government can do for us," he said, "but what we can do for ourselves and for our nation together."

Mr Rubio fails to understand that even with social security as a safety net for the majority of Americans in retirement, most do not save enough from their own earnings to live without social security.

People can't save for retirement when most are living pay check to pay check.

That he has conservatives that believe as he does only proves most of them don't understand the reality of American saving habits for retirement.

Here's the reality.

The average savings of a 50 year old is $54,000. How much do you think that will grow by the time the average saver is ready to retire? How long do you think a couple will be able to live off of that savings for the next 30 years without social security?
