What's the difference between 'you are my sweetheart' and 'you are a sweetheart' ?

'you are my sweetheart' = indicates an established or wished-for romantic relationship

'you are a sweetheart' = a statement that a person is beloved or a kindhearted person, but not an indication about a romance.
