Roots of hair always turning red when dying

I have natural have light brown hair and had to start dying it bc I have gray hair. Every time I dye it from my roots to about 2 inches turn red. I have went to a salon and they couldn't tell me how to fix it. I'm really sick of my hair being two different colors. What can I do to fix this problem?

Try another salon. Sorry if that sounds flip but you seem to have resistant grays and possibly hard water that's altering the color after you rinse it out.
