the classic one - it might have actually been quoted previously, I didn't want to look through 165-odd pages - was from Archbishop Spooner himself, giving a dressing down to one of his recalcitrant students:
'You've hissed all my mystery lessons, you've tasted the whole worm, and you shall leave by the first town drain'.
(I should explain that trains going to London from Oxford were called 'down trains' - one came up to Oxford, and went down to London.)
