However - from what I've seen, Google doesn't particularly appreciate duplicate content - hence the.co.uk website will need to be around 50% unique, that is complicated since there is a limited amount we are able to say regarding the item!
Is it worth the effort of spinning etc etc for the welfare of Google position, or are we better off simply concentrating on SEO for our.com site?

No it won't be because when you spin your content, content meaning will be changed, so if you do this activities search engine thought your a spammer.

Don't bother getting additional versions of your domain unless there's a true difference. E. g. for Amazon and Amazon.UK, they offer different deals.
