New DVD needs connecting to old TV

Hi all,

I have a new DVD I bought for my parents.

However, neither the TV nor the Video Player has scart sockets.

I would like to know what my options are.
My TV has an RF socket where the ariel goes in.
It also has two sockets labelled Audio and Video.

Whats the best way to connect the DVD to the TV?

Is there a lead that has Scart on one end and an Audio and Vidio output on the other. If so, what is it called and can someone point me to a U.K. website that has one?

Also, my parents use the Sky remote control to control the TV. How do I use this remote control if I want to put the TV into AV mode?

Cheers,

Kalten~!!!

you just probably need an RF modulator. I think Radio Shak has em.

It's the Audio and Video sockets on the back of the TV that you want.
It's an old mono TV right ? Same as an old one of mine.

Just get yourself a set of the red and white leads used for stereo signals between an amp and a CD player. You'll also need a lead with the same connector on it but in yellow.
Connect the white plug to the left audio out on the back of the DVD player and the other end of the lead with the other white plug to the audio plug on the back of the gogglebox.
The use the lead with the yellow plus on it to connect the video out of the DVD player to the video socket on the back of the TV.
The red lead you don't need so just leave it hanging.

Bung a disk in and start it playing.
The change the channel of the gogglebox to AV or VIDEO or whatever else it says on the remote or the buttons. It isn't one of the normal channels 0-xxx or whatever so you can't use 0 like you'd normally do for the video as the signal from the DVD player is coming into a special video input on the back of the box and isn't coming in via the normal RF circuit.

You'll only be getting the left side audio sigal but who cares ?

Just had a thought.

I'm assuming that the DVD player has a SCART and separate audio and video outs.
If it doesn't then you can get a lead that has SCART on one end and leads on the other or there's a plug available which plugs into the DVD SCART and has the relevant sockets on the back so you can use the leads I was gibbering about above.

Get down to Dixons or Currys and they'll have what you need.
