@tucsondave,
It looks like a geode but it could've been a store-bought one. Hard to know if it occurred naturally, not that it matters in the long run.

@tucsondave,
That's a tricky one. Exterior appears slightly quartz like. It almost looks like a cross-sectioned fossil of some type. Might be petrified wood of some kind.

@tucsondave,
Do you have access to a cross sec mineral saw?. You find a rock shop ND THEY can do it for you.
Cut it across the patterns and see. Id say its one of 2 things
1Its a lepidolite septerian
2Its an agate concretion
The pinkish purplish color hs me interested in that it may be a lithium mica septeria ( or a lepidolite and lithium feldspar).

@farmerman,
Thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions. I am going to find a rock shop to have it sawed across the sections. I'll post some pictures when that is done.

@farmerman,
Here is a nice page with information about most of the ghost towns in southern arizona:
http://southernarizonaguide.com/ghost-towns-southern-arizona/

Clicking on the dots on the map will bring up more information in most cases. Most are old mining towns, and some have opportunities to search for rocks and minerals.
Thanks again.
