An afghan is to be crocheted with dimensions of 4 feet X 6 feet. Instructions on the yarn indicate 4 stitches equal 1 inch and 6 rows equal 1 inch.

The person crochets at a rate of 8 stitches per minute.

Calculate length of time needed to crochet the afghan.

What is known:
Dimensions- 4 feet X 6 feet.
4 stitches = 1 inch
6 rows = 1 inch
Rate- 8 stitches per minute.

Want to know:
Amount of time to complete afghan.

Let T = Time needed for completion.

Convert- 24 square feet = 3456 square inches.

@Randy Dandy,
No Algebra. Arithmetic
You have the square footage and the number of square inches.
How many stitches per square inch?
Multiply that number by the square inches.
Divide the result by the number of stitches per minute.
See if that works for the number of minutes.

@neologist,
neologist,

24 stitches per square inch.

24 * 3456 = 82944 stitches.

82944 / 8 = 10368 minutes

10368 / 60 minutes per hour = 172 .8 hours / 24 hours per day = 7.2 days
