@Walter Hinteler,
Fort Burgoyne Eastern Outworks, Dover, Kent

Fort Burgoyne was designed and built in the 1860's as one of the country's Palmerston forts, it represented the cutting edge of fortress design in the theory, and methods of construction. It is one of only two such fortifications to have survived complete.

Remains of a roman bathhouse.

In downtown Ankara, Turkey.

The amount of firewood, water, and labor needed to operate it staggers the imagination,let alone having built the place. Truly an important perk for the boys overseas back then in what must have been a hardship post.

This is a staircase and not a tunnel, but looking down it is like a tunnel.

Parndon Mill Bridge, Little Parndon, Harlow, Essex. (This bridge, River Stout, was designed and created by a blacksmith, who lives and works at Parndon Mill)

@Walter Hinteler,
Greenwich foot tunnel, linking Greenwich with the Isle of Dogs

Walking from Canary Wharf along the Thames to the tunnel seemed shorter to me than crossing the Thames via the tunnel

The view of the staircases is better in this graphic than in reality

Friedensreich Hundertwasser (December 15, 1928 – February 19, 2000) was an Austrian artist . Born in Vienna, he became one of the best-known contemporary Austrian artists by the end of the 20th century.
I like Hundertwasser, but your churchwall I prefer.

This is a Floodwall---what do you do to a 14 ft tall concrete barrier between you and the Ohio River at floodstage? You turn it into a mural.

This is a mural of an arch through the floodwall--the background if what you would see through the arch.
