@rosborne979,
Well . . . we've got organized religion, too . . . that's pretty awful.

I believe the word that typically ignorant bible-thumper was looking for was affliction. Not that education ever benefits those types.

If we plonked you back in time before anti biotics, anaesthetics and vaccines....how long do you think it would be before you were squealing for a scientist to come along and make your life healthier and bearable?.

So, we can expect that when you get sick, you will go to a church instead of a doctor?

A Theory is just a set of unproven guesses and hunches, that's why it's called the Theory of Evolution and not the FACT of Evolution..Smile
For example in his book "Climbing Mount Improbable", Dawkins goes into a "guessing frenzy" on pages 113-114 with-

"My guess is that both bats and birds evolved flight by gliding downwards from the trees.. Here’s one guess as to how flying got started in birds.. Perhaps birds began by leaping off the ground while bats began gliding out of trees. Or perhaps birds too began by gliding out of trees"

@Romeo Fabulini,
How do you feel about the theory of gravity?

I don't believe in gravity... I believe in the equally plausible theory of Intelligent Falling.

Theories are not worth a dime unless they can be proven.
For example I've got a theory that the woman in a bookshop in town fancies me, but until she gives me some indication that she does, it remains just a theory..Smile

PS- mind you i've gone off her a bit just lately because she's stopped wearing sexy mary janes and switched to wearing horrible wedge-heel monstrosities

@Romeo Fabulini,
Prove to me that gravity exists? That theory of gravity doesn't mean a darn unless you prove that there aren't noodly appendages pulling things down to the ground when you drop them.

Jesus wasn't a "theory", he was solid flesh and blood seen by the 5 million population of Israel and the Roman garrison and blew peoples socks off by telling the snooty priests stuff like-

"You're full of shite!"

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean....the prostitutes are entering God's kingdom ahead of you!" (Matt 23:27, Matt 21:31)

Could you please give me some evidence that the theory of evolution is "a set of unproven guesses and hunches" and not the result of a century and a half of patient observation, measurement, and testing?

Sure mate, creatures like this are far too perfect to have evolved purely by blind random chance without the help of a Master Geneticist..Smile

Science does not call anything a theory unless it is proven to be true.

That wasn't what I asked you. Pay attention. I asked you to give evidence to support your statement that of evolution is "a set of unproven guesses and hunches" and not the result of a century and a half of patient observation, measurement, and testing.
