Lately I have been receiving emails that have no sender information and no subject, making them impossible to block. The messages are usually about penis enhancement or some such rot. I have complained to my ISP to no avail. Has this happened to you? Is there a way to set up a rule to exclude them?
Yikes! I get them constantly....so far, I have found no way to block them.
At least you guys get e-mail. I hardly ever do, I go days and days without e=mail. Sometimes weeks.
Go to Google Spam Blocker and install.
Or stop going to the porn sites.
Well I should confess I keep the parental controls on. I think that blocks a lot of spam about sex stuff.
I don't visit porn sites, but the spam in my e-mail is still endless. I'm miffed...
I have 2 different emails. I receive such emails in one of the two but not the other, I couldn't be bothered to block them though since my filter is set so set only senders on a list of senders will go straight to my email, the rest is directed to junk mail, and deleted.
If I recall correctly, Cav, you use your email both for personal and business communication. Perhaps a "whitelist" of trusted senders, or a separate freinds-and-family-only enail address would help you keep that separate from the rest. Unfortunately, a whitelist isn't very practical for business email, unless the object is to restrict yourself to communication with already established business contacts ... not very practical. There are a variety of spam-filtering apps out there, but even the best of them take some setting up, tweaking, and vigilant attention ... and even with the best of intentions and practices, the filters inevitably will miss-assign some emails. I've gotten to where it takes me just a few minutes to scan through my New Messages folders and delete literally hundreds of emails. I'm sure I toss some I'd rather have kept, but if its that important, what the hell; if they've got a 'puter, they've got a phone. I can be reached.

Joanne, would you like to add 2 inches or more to your length and girth
without costly medication or bulky, indiscreet mechanical devices? Our new 100% safe herbal treatment will add those inches in 30 days and give you a new feeling of confidence and self esteem......
There, feel better?

I don't either...I reside there.
Ideally, if you adopt a policy of one mail account per person (or org/com) to communicate, you might be able to pin-point a source of spam (unless it is caused by a computer virus).
But I am not very sure of it.
So I have my dsl through sbcyahoo.com. I get the emails on outlook express via yahoo and when I am out of town, etc., and access my O.E. from someone else's computer, I go through yahoo, which has separated out some fair portion of the spam into bulk mail. On those occasions I check the bulk pages carefully and always find the odd and maybe important email from a friend, or perhaps the NYTimes (which I've never listed as spam and they mostly let through)
They also miss about 20%.
Still, I see it is a convenience, partially... On my home computer, non junk mail comes in with a different colored address, etc. and I can just delete down the line, as they are usually grouped together. Aggravating as this is, I can see than I am not exing out a friend. The deleting is, to me, speedier on the Outlook Express.
Yahoo has improved in the ease of reading mail since I first had it, but I still find it cumbersome mechanically vs. my outlook express and revert back inevitably when I return home.
I know there are various programs for excising spam but they are mostly directed to pc's. And I would want to check them anyway, just like I do when I get the email straight from yahoo.
I would knock off my email address and switch to another one, and avoid ever letting my key address be on a post, etc. - but I really like my email address.
I also like my email addresses for work, but get much less spam there. I figure the spam at home is from my ignorance about these matters when I first got email.
On aggravating things about email, I am always annoyed to be included in some long list of friends getting an email instead of being bcc'd. Sometimes I tell the person, and sometimes I just sigh and let it go.
I am something of a fool re computers and the internet, but, yikes, I seem to know many people who are more so.
Block the emails by either blocking selected words in the subject line or in the body of the message.

I never thought of that. I normally do it by the sender. Thankee.
